Our Pastor
Hello! My name is Rev. Devin Dickinson and I have been serving the North Turner Union Presbyterian Church since January 2019. I am engaged in bi-vocational ministry, meaning that I serve this congregation but I also serve full time as a healthcare chaplain. I am originally from Boston and have only lived in Maine for four years. I have a bachelors in Religion from Atlantic Union College (South Lancaster,MA) with a minor in psychology. And I have a masters in divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary (Princeton,NJ). After seminary I did a year long residency at Baptist Health Louisville (Louisville, KY) before my husband and I moved to Maine.
One of the reason why I wanted to serve a congregational is relationships. I like forming relationships and getting to know people. I like journeying with people and the follow up that comes with congregational ministry. And I like having a church family that I can also be open and vulnerable with. By being here at NTUPC we are called into relationship with one another.
My husband (David) and I moved to Maine September 2015 and it has become our home. In March 2018, we welcomed twin girls into the world. We love exploring Maine and watching our girls interact with all that Maine has to offer. As they get older I am excited for them to come worship here regularly and be a part of this church family.
I like to preach from the Revised Common Lectionary because it connects us with other Christians around the world. Though it is sometimes tough to read with toddlers running around, I enjoy reading many different authors such as Rachel Held Evans, Nadia Bolz-Webber, and other theologians. I have interest in areas such as grief, end of life issues, liberation theology, and how theology intersects with fields like disabilities or sexuality. I am always looking for something new to read and welcome recommendations. In addition to reading recommendations, I am always open to sermon recommendations. Is there a particular topic that you’ve been wanting to learn more about? Maybe a text that you’ve never heard preached? Let me know!
